Curt Walton was selected in 2007 by City Council to be Charlotte's City Manager.
Walton, Charlotte's 14th City Manager, is responsible for administering the policy and decisions made by the City Council and overseeing the day-to-day operations of City government.
Walton was an Assistant City Manager in Charlotte from December 2002 until his appointment to City Manager. Prior to that he was the City's Budget and Evaluation Director.
Charlotte is one of the largest cities in the country with a council-manager form of government dating back to 1929, where the manager reports to the City Council and the council votes on the manager's recommendations.
The City Manager ensures that all City services are delivered in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
